Alkaline Phosphatase
A marker linked to both liver and bone health.
Why it matters
Levels can shift when the liver is under strain or when bones are remodelling more than usual.
Comprehensive bone health assessment examining five critical biomarkers. This panel measures alkaline phosphatase to evaluate bone turnover activity, adjusted calcium for skeletal integrity, phosphate levels essential for bone mineralisation, vitamin D status crucial for calcium absorption, and parathyroid hormone to assess calcium regulation. Together, these markers provide insight into bone metabolism, mineral balance, and overall skeletal health. Ideal for monitoring bone density concerns, evaluating metabolic disorders, or establishing baseline bone health status. Results guide targeted interventions to support long-term bone strength and prevent degenerative conditions.

The Bone Health panel requires a venous blood draw at a Chxhealth or partner clinic. The phlebotomy fee is included in the price. Choose our Lanchester clinic or one of our 50+ UK partner and pop-up clinics when you book.
The panel covers vitamin D, calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase, and other markers relevant to bone metabolism. It is most informative when interpreted alongside lifestyle factors and, where indicated by a clinician, bone density scanning.
Adults concerned about bone density (particularly postmenopausal women), people with low vitamin D risk factors, athletes with repeated stress injuries, and anyone with a family history of osteoporosis.
Late winter (February to April) typically captures the lowest vitamin D levels in the UK because of low UVB in the months before. Testing in late summer captures peak levels. For supplementation tracking, retest 3 months after starting a new dose. Read more in our vitamin D glossary entry.
