Test Sample Location

The thyroid regulates metabolism, energy, and mood through hormone production. When it underperforms, weight management, focus, and vitality suffer. Support thyroid function with key nutrients such as iodine, selenium, and zinc, which enable proper hormone synthesis. Stress reduction and quality sleep strengthen hormonal balance, whilst regular health checks catch imbalances early. Whether optimising existing function or addressing concerns, thyroid wellness is foundational to sustained health and wellbeing. This test evaluates key markers of thyroid health, including Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Free Tri‑iodothyronine, Free Thyroxine, Anti‑Thyroglobulin Antibodies, and Anti‑Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies.

What we measure

The biomarkers in this panel.

Thyroid health

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone

The hormone that tells your thyroid how hard to work.

Why it matters

A first-line marker for thyroid balance.

Thyroid health

Free Tri-iodothyronine

The active form of your other main thyroid hormone (T3).

Why it matters

Helps show how well your thyroid signal is being used.

Thyroid health

Free Thyroxine

The active form of one of your main thyroid hormones (T4).

Why it matters

Adds detail beyond TSH for a fuller thyroid picture.

Thyroid health

Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody

An immune marker linked to the thyroid.

Why it matters

Can be a sign your immune system is reacting to your thyroid.

Thyroid health

Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody

Another immune marker linked to the thyroid.

Often raised when the immune system is reacting to thyroid tissue.

Is this panel right for me?

Who this panel is built for.

Who this is for

  • Adults wanting a broader view of thyroid function than TSH alone.
  • People reviewing the impact of nutrition, stress or training on thyroid markers.
  • Anyone with a family history of thyroid issues who wants to track their own numbers.
  • Those starting or reviewing a supplement plan that may interact with thyroid function.

Consider speaking to a clinician first

  • Anyone currently being titrated on levothyroxine or other thyroid medication. Your prescriber should direct testing.
  • People with new, persistent symptoms (extreme fatigue, palpitations, weight change) without GP review.
  • Pregnant women, who need pregnancy-specific reference ranges via their maternity team.
  • Children under 18.

This panel reports biomarker data. It does not diagnose any condition. Your results should be reviewed alongside the advice of your GP or another qualified healthcare professional.

FAQs

Common questions.

How long do Thyroid Health results take?

Thyroid Health results are typically delivered within 2 working days of the laboratory receiving your sample. You receive a plain English PDF report.

How is the sample collected for the Thyroid Health panel?

The Thyroid Health panel requires a venous blood draw at a Chxhealth or partner clinic. The phlebotomy fee is included in the price. Choose our Lanchester clinic or one of our 50+ UK partner and pop-up clinics when you book.

Who should consider the Thyroid Health panel?

The Thyroid Health panel suits people with symptoms that could relate to thyroid function (fatigue, weight change, cold or heat intolerance, mood changes, hair loss, irregular periods) or anyone with a family history of thyroid disease. It is also a useful baseline if you are on or considering thyroid medication.

What time of day should I test thyroid markers?

Morning testing is generally preferred for consistency, especially if you will retest in future and want comparable results. If you take levothyroxine or other thyroid medication, take it after the blood test, not before.

Why does Chxhealth test Free T3 and Free T4, not just TSH?

TSH is the most sensitive single thyroid marker, but Free T4 and Free T3 give a fuller picture of the active hormones your body can actually use. Some people have normal TSH with low free hormone levels, which a TSH-only test would miss. Read more in our TSH glossary entry.
