Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
The hormone that tells your thyroid how hard to work.
Why it matters
A first-line marker for thyroid balance.
The thyroid regulates metabolism, energy, and mood through hormone production. When it underperforms, weight management, focus, and vitality suffer. Support thyroid function with key nutrients such as iodine, selenium, and zinc, which enable proper hormone synthesis. Stress reduction and quality sleep strengthen hormonal balance, whilst regular health checks catch imbalances early. Whether optimising existing function or addressing concerns, thyroid wellness is foundational to sustained health and wellbeing. This test evaluates key markers of thyroid health, including Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Free Tri‑iodothyronine, Free Thyroxine, Anti‑Thyroglobulin Antibodies, and Anti‑Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies.

The Thyroid Health panel requires a venous blood draw at a Chxhealth or partner clinic. The phlebotomy fee is included in the price. Choose our Lanchester clinic or one of our 50+ UK partner and pop-up clinics when you book.
The Thyroid Health panel suits people with symptoms that could relate to thyroid function (fatigue, weight change, cold or heat intolerance, mood changes, hair loss, irregular periods) or anyone with a family history of thyroid disease. It is also a useful baseline if you are on or considering thyroid medication.
Morning testing is generally preferred for consistency, especially if you will retest in future and want comparable results. If you take levothyroxine or other thyroid medication, take it after the blood test, not before.
TSH is the most sensitive single thyroid marker, but Free T4 and Free T3 give a fuller picture of the active hormones your body can actually use. Some people have normal TSH with low free hormone levels, which a TSH-only test would miss. Read more in our TSH glossary entry.
